When I say Kyla is obsessed with volcanoes, that is an understatement.
When driving in the car, "Mom! Look! A volcano!"
(Larkspur)
When looking through a magazing, "Mom! Look! A volcano!"
When watching tv, "Mom! Look! A volcano!"
(notice the top right corner)
When driving down I-25, "Mom! Watch out!!"
(power plant in Colorado Springs)
When eating dinner in our kitchen, looking out the window, "Mom! Look! Pikes Peak is like a volcano!"
(Surprisingly, when the sun sets, there are quite often clouds over Pikes Peak that look like this)
What did she want for her birthday??
What did she get for her birthday??
"Lava" included
Looking at a picture of Stephen and I on our Honeymoon in Hawaii
"There's you and dad and I was in your tummy so the volcano smoke can't get me"
"No. You weren't in my tummy then."
"I was!"
"ok."

With all this talk about volcanoes, I've even learned a bit more. Did you know volcanos can steam, smoke and erupt lava? They do all three. Kyla and I talk about volcanos a lot. She tells me that volcanos look like mountains and that not all mountains are volcanos, but look like them. She also tells me about underwater volcanos.
But lets not forget about the full on eruption with flowing hot liquid magma, or lava!
Even as I'm writing this, Kyla is watching Dora. She just told me,
"A volcano is a mountain that EXPLODES! KA BOOM!"
I like this one, it's pretty

I wish I could find the real (non istockphoto with X) picture of it, I've scoured in interwebs the best I know how and this is the best thing I can find!
I ask Kyla if she wants to go to Hawaii to see a real volcano. She says she'll just get back in my tummy so the smoke can't get her.
Um, no.
